Reducing Plastic Waste - Tip of the Month!
Each month we are aiming to bring you a new and fun tip to reduce plastic waste in your everyday life. This month Tammi, our clean ocean campaigner, has this awesome tip for you:
Hopefully you have had a fantastic start to the new year! Let's make 2020 the year of change - let's turn the tide in the war on plastic.
To kick start this year I am going right back to basics. Reducing plastic 101 is to #RefusePlasticStraws. They are still everywhere, from cafes to bars to takeaways. Everywhere I go I refuse plastic straws, hand them back when someone mistakenly gives them to me. I have asked a few local businesses if they would consider only providing plastic straws if they are requested, and a few have agreed!
What do I use instead? Typically I just go without straws, as they really aren't necessary for me. However, I do own a reusable, stainless steel straw. Its really handy as it is a telescope style straw, which shrinks down and I just keep it in my bag for the occasions when I need one.
If you would like to get yourself a reusable straw then I would highly recommend this one! It comes in black, pink, green or purple and has a cleaning brush with it. Click here to get yours today!

This month we have done a deep dive into Cage Diving with Sharks. Coming up this month we are going to be talking about oil spills in the oceans as well as protecting the southern resident orcas from extinction. Not only that but Penguin Awareness Day is just around the corner, last year we focused on general threats to penguins around the world but this year we are going to look at a specific penguin species.
