Reducing Plastic Waste - Tip of the Month!
Each month we are aiming to bring you a new and fun tip to reduce plastic waste in your everyday life. This month Tammi, our clean ocean campaigner, has this great tip for you:
For December I decided to embrace the holiday spirit and focus on having a plastic free Christmas.
This year I wanted to take my plastic free lifestyle and sprinkle some festive magic on it as well as sharing it with my friends and family. So, instead of buying rolls of sparkling, glittery, un-recyclable wrapping paper I am making my own! Using brown wrapping paper and some eco paint and stamps I crafted my own, fully recyclable wrapping paper for all my Christmas gifts.
The great thing about this project is that you can personalise each gift for the person you are giving too. Various colors, shapes and patterns plus it is so much better for the environment and more thoughtful.
Check out my examples below, and if you try this out for yourself then please share a photo with us! I would love to see your creativity!

This month we want to share an incredibly inspiring post from one of our Clean Ocean Campaign, Shawn Bath and all the work he and his team have been doing.
"It's not very glamorous but this is how it has to be done for now, hands on. Day after day I crawl the bottoms of our Newfoundland harbours retrieving ghost nets and ocean trash like these old tires, and for my efforts I'm being called everything from a hero to a fool.
I have been volunteering to clean our oceans for over a year and a half now, I started it out of love for our oceans and I continue because I know once I stop no one will come behind me and do what I have tried to do. Our marine ecosystems are in trouble and too few seem to care.
One thing is abundantly clear, there is a lot more money for those destroying our oceans than those protecting it. It's dangerous and dirty but I'm loving it beyond belief.
Leaving a healthy ocean for our kids and grand kids should be first and foremost for us all.
I honestly don't have the funds to do this without your help. If you want to see this continue and grow, please consider donating to our cause. gf.me/u/vupgch or email to cleanharboursNL@hotmail.com"
If you have a moment, please head over to Shawn's post and give it a like and a share. Click here.
