Ocean Helper New Year Update: January 2018

Happy New Year from Ocean Helper!

Our Save A Baby Sea Turtle Campaign has done amazingly in its first month! Thank you all for your support!

In December our dedicated army of Ocean Helpers helped us raise another $625 for the Billion Baby Turtles project. This is all thanks to you, keep up the amazing work and spreading the word!
The Billion Baby Turtle Project has already managed to save over 1 MILLION sea turtle hatchlings! Your contributions here at Ocean Helper have meant that our latest donation helped save another 3,000 baby sea turtles bringing our total to date to 4,800 hatchlings saved!

We also have some fun news from Surfers Against Sewage! In October Ocean Helper were invited to an event hosted by SAS at their HQ in Cornwall UK, where we heard about all the incredible work they have been up to and we got to meet the other members and share thoughts and ideas. In December, with your help, we were able to donate another $542 to SAS!

The Autumn Beach Clean organised and arranged by Surfers Against Sewage was the most successful ever! There were 356 cleans taking place across all regions of the UK. A total of 34,913KG of plastic pollution was removed from the beaches, including 11,450 single-use plastic bottles! These will now be recycled with Ecover and Parley.

At Ocean Helper we are proud to support #BreakFreeFromPlastic who are kickstarting the new year with a huge push to encourage everyone to reduce their waste! What can you do in your everyday life to help reduce the amount of waste you make? Check out our other blog posts to see some of our suggestions.

We love supporting local projects as well as the bigger charities. Last month Paula Dart contacted us to enquire about a bulk order for the bracelets. Her students have spent the last term learning about the impact of plastic in the oceans and how we can take better care of our planet. We were so impressed by the work they had been doing we sent a free bracelet to every student in the class. Safe to say they loved them!
