Ocean Helper Update - May 2019

Reducing Plastic Waste - Tip of the Month!

We want to bring you a new and interesting tip each month to reduce plastic waste in your home. This month Tammi, our Clean Ocean Campaigner has gone through her bathroom to see where else she can reduce her plastic waste. This is her tip this month...

After sorting and deep cleaning my bathroom in April, this month I wanted to look at how else I can change my bathroom habits to reduce plastic as much as possible. I already have swapped to a bamboo toothbrush with dental tablets in a refill jar. For my shampoo and soap I use natural bars and when I shave I use a stainless steel safety razor

Unfortunately I did discover a pack of cotton swabs from a little over a year ago that had fallen down behind a cabinet, and they were not ocean friendly!

This month's plastic free tip is to avoid the plastic cotton swabs. You have probably seen the viral image of the sea horse floating in the ocean with its tail wrapped around a plastic cotton swab, you can help protect sea life from this kind of plastic pollution by opting for a more environmentally option. Such as our bamboo cotton swabs, they come in a pack of 200 in a recyclable cardboard box.
