Reducing Plastic Waste - Tip of the Month!
Each month we are aiming to bring you a new and interesting tip to reduce plastic waste in your home. This month Tammi, our clean ocean campaigner, has made a new switch:
Last month we switched from plastic to bamboo cotton buds. This month I wanted to take my routine a step further, having run out of facial wipes to remove my make up and wash my face I had a quick look for a reusable, zero waste alternative.
For many of you this will already be a really easy swap to make. Once you run out of facial wipes simply switch over to using a flannel or damp towel to wash your face. Almost all disposable wipes contain plastic or come in none-recyclable plastic packaging.
Don't already have something you can use at home? Maybe you need something specifically for removing make up? Well, Ocean Helper is now selling packs of 20 reusable bamboo pads. They are made from 3 woven layers of bamboo fiber and come in a handy travel bag for storage and transportation.
Grab yourself a pack from Ocean Helper plus get 15% off when you enter the code ECO15.

Surfers Against Sewage had another campaign win at the end of last month when the UK Government announced that they will ban plastic straws, stirrers and ear buds!
Their campaign efforts in the fight against plastic continues, and on June 5th SAS campaigners brought a 15ft 'unknown sea monster' to the UK parliament to call on MPs to back their #GenerationSea pledge! You can sign the pledge here or read more about their campaign here.
Generation Sea is the new movement for 2019 with the aim of preserving our oceans for future generations to enjoy and love as we do.
Turtle Rescue Campaign
As of June 1st 2019 you have helped to rescue and protect 19,917 Baby Sea Turtles! That's less than 100 left to go before we reach our goal of 20,000!!
Ever single purchase on Ocean Helper saves a sea turtle hatchlings. We are partnered with the Billion Baby Turtle project who work with locals in Latin America to protect and rescue baby sea turtles.
Throughout the week of June 8th - 16th the Billion Baby Turtle celebrated sea turtles dedicating each day of the week to a different species! Be sure to check them out on Facebook here.
Currently Billion Baby Turtles are running a campaign with Divers For Turtles to encourage divers to be more considerate when diving with sea turtles. They want divers to be more aware of the effects they have on the environments that they dive in, you can check out the pledge here.
In May we heard from Teo Putica on Instagram.
The image below is what Teo's kayak looked like after an adventure in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Thankfully, all this plastic and rubbish has now been removed and disposed of correctly.
Fantastic job Teo!
Here at Ocean Helper we love to hear about what you guys are doing to make an impact and protect our oceans.
Whether you're working on reducing plastic at home or out on the beaches picking up litter let us know and you might be featured next month!
